To celebrate the launch of Monolith Production’s Gotham City Imposters (which lands today on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Games for Windows), a band of commuters in London dressed up for the occasion, donning the attire the two in-game gangs – the Bats and Jokerz .

While we’ve yet to try the game for ourselves, Gotham City Impostors offers and interesting spin on the DC Comic’s famous fictional city. In the game 12 players battle for control of an unhinged Gotham City which has been overrun by Impostors inspired by Batman and The Joker.

We’re hoping to be able to review the game soon, but in the meantime check out the gallery below to see how the Imposters London adventure panned out.

Not dead yet.

After seemingly years in the wilderness Ubisoft have just released a fresh screenshot and gameplay trailer of the mysterious I Am Alive. While the shot doesn’t really tell us much more than we already knew (i.e. that the game is set in Chicago after a cataclysmic earthquake), the press release does come with an interesting little nugget of news: I Am Alive is now to be released on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade as a downloadable title. Check out the screenshot and trailer below:

Here’s the press release in full:

Developed by Ubisoft Shanghai, I Am Alive was engineered to create a convincing, post-disaster world in which players are faced with thought-provoking choices.

I Am Alive follows an everyman’s journey to find his wife and daughter, who were lost during the “Event.” A year later, he finds Haventon, his hometown, in shambles. Buildings are destroyed, toxic ash fills the streets, and society has been torn, causing inhabitants to take all necessary actions to survive.

“We know people have been waiting for this game to arrive, and we believe it’s going to be worth the wait,” said Adam Novickas, Director of Marketing at Ubisoft. “I Am Alive presents a unique take on thepostapocalyptic, survival genre by creating more complex and emotional situations for the player. Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network are the perfect platforms to leverage the mature and challenging experiences of the game.”

In I Am Alive, players will be challenged by both their environment and their enemies. Stamina and resource management are key when being exposed to deadly atmospheres and scaling enormous buildings in search of supplies. The unique combat system requires players to utilize intimidation: cowards are easily swayed with an empty gun, while other enemies will put players to the test.

There’s nothing quite like getting your hands on a brand new television, but setting it up for the perfect gaming experience can sometimes be a bit of a chore. If you’ve recently purchased a Samsung 7 or 8 series LED TV, then fret no more, as the Samsung engineers have just released a rather nifty ‘How to’ guide to make your television sing.

Here’s the full break down which can can reduce screen lag and some additional tweaks that can be made to provide the best possible results for gaming:

Ubisoft have announced that a demo of Driver: San Francisco will be available from tomorrow. Though the series hit something of a rough patch with the much maligned Driv3r, we have to admit this latest installment’s ‘Shift’ feature (that allows players to leap into the seat of any car) has us intrigued.

Chief of Marketing and Sales Officer at Ubisoft, Geoffroy Sardin had this to say on the title:

<img src="http://www.dpadmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Driver-San-Francisco-500x281.jpg" alt="" title="Driver San Francisco"width="230" height="129" class="alignright" style="border:1px solid #000000"/> “The Driver franchise has always been defined by the excitement of high speed chases and the freedom to drive anywhere in huge cities. Playing Driver San Francisco is the best way to reveal this unique Driver feeling and we are thrilled gamers will be able to get a taste of why we are so excited about Driver San Francisco’s release in September.”

The single-player demo will feature 3 exhilarating missions in the iconic city of San Francisco:

· Team Colours – Shift between your cars to finish 1st & 2nd in a race
· Escapist – Escape the police with your VIP passenger
· Prove It – Execute stunts and tricks and a cop chase

To give you a flavor of what’s in store, here’s the latest trailer:

The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 demo of Driver San Francisco will appear on Xbox LIVE® and PlayStation® Network for download beginning on August 10th, 2011.

Driver San Francisco will ship in the UK on September 2nd, 2011 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii™. For more information go to http://www.driver-game.com.

Expo-a-go-go!

With the Eurogamer Expo going from strength to strength (this year’s event, for example, has now moved to the larger of Earl’s Courts exhibition halls), UK gamers eager for to go hands on with the biggest upcoming releases are now probably better served than ever before.

<img src="http://www.dpadmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/GAMEfest-2011.jpg" alt="" title="GAMEfest 2011"width="192" height="97" class="alignright" style="border:1px solid #000000"/> Things on the expo scene (if such a scene exists…) look even rosier with the line up for GAMEfest 2011 growing by the day, most recently with SEGA and THQ announcing that they intend to showcase the cream of their upcoming releases at the Birmingham NEC-based event.

Games now confirmed for the event include THQ’s cult wrestling series newest title, WWE 12, which will be available exclusive to GAMEfest customers who will be able to get their hands on the game before anyone else in the UK. Action game Saints Row The Third is another THQ title that will be available at GAMEfest to play.

SEGA will also be showcasing a series of games to GAMEfest customers, giving them the chance to play both their new first-person survival horror game, Rise of Nightmares before anyone else in the UK as well as Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games™, a great title for family gamers.

The addition of these two large publishers bolster what is already a fairly impressive line-up that includes gaming heavyweights including EA and Nintendo. Whether this inaugural GAMEfest should have the Eurogamer Expo worried has yet to be seen, but it’s great to see a new event servicing the rabid apetites of UK gamers.

GAMEfest will run from the 16-18 September 2011 at the Birmingham NEC with tickets available online on the GAME website.

The full list of titles the SEGA and THQ will be showcasing at GAMEfest is as follows:

SEGA:

· Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games™
· Sonic Generations
· House of the Dead: Overkill – Extended Cut
· Rise of Nightmares

THQ:
· WWE
· U Draw
· Saints Row the Third

Elephant & Castle & Kirby

The drab concrete and 1960’s architecture of London’s Elephant & Castle is soon to get a splash of colour thanks to Nintendo, the effervescent Kirby and some enthusiastically applied knitting needles.

<img src="http://www.dpadmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Kirbys-Epic-Yarn.png" alt="" title="Kirby's Epic Yarn"width="230" height="129" class="alignright" style="border:1px solid #000000"/> In celebration of the launch of Kirby’s lastest adventure – Kirby’s Epic Yarn for the Nintendo Wii – on the 25th February, Nintendo will be decking out the London area in ‘a colourful array of knitting to bring the feel-good vibe of Kirby’s Epic Yarn and replace grey with colour’.

The event – which will run on the 24th February 2011 and last for one day only – is fueled by a YouGov poll (commissioned by Nintendo itself) that declared Elephant & Castle ‘the greyest place in the UK’ after the area, beating Kings Cross, the South Bank, Slough, Birmingham and Milton Keynes among others to claim the dubious honor!

Rob Lowe, Senior Marketing Manager for Wii at Nintendo said, “The research found that almost half of us play video games specifically to cheer ourselves up, and with this in mind we’re bringing the happy spirit of our latest game to inject some fun into the greyest area.”

Visitors to Elephant & Castle on February 24th will have the chance to take home a preview copy of the game, with Nintendo giving away 20 free copies. The installation will be created by Knit the City – www.knitthecity.com. Anyone interested in more information on Kirby’s Epic Yarn should visit www.nintendo.co.uk/kirby.

D+PAD is hoping to pop along to see the event for our selves and will endeavor to grab some photos. We won’t be doing any knitting though….

–

UPDATE:

So…we went along to the event and while it wasn’t quite as grand as we were expecting (and Elephant & Castle, for the most part, remained as gray as ever!), the small display did exude the same kind of understated charm for which Kirby’s is famous.

Take a look for yourself in the below:
