Bioshock 2 Add-on Announced

It seems we won’t have to wait long before we get our next fix of the excellent Bioshock 2, as 2K has announced its plan to bring Minerva’s Den, described as a ‘self-contained narrative experience’, to the game’s well-received single-player campaign.

According to 2K President Christoph Hartmann, players will get the chance to take the helm of a brand new character, teamed with returning face, Brigid Tenenbaum in a bid to free a previously unexplored district of Rapture from the grasp of a tyrannical ruler.

Hartmann elaborated by saying, ‘Minerva’s Den is a substantial addition that will give players more of what they’re looking for: more story, more narrative, more gameplay and more of Rapture… Minerva’s Den will be a fitting conclusion to the Bioshock 2 saga.’

While the specifics have yet to be detailed, the download will feature new Plasmids, weapons, Splicers, rocket-powered security bots and even a brand new type of Big Daddy.

Those itching for more Bioshock 2 can head on over to the Playstation Network and Xbox Marketplace for the defence-centric Protector Trials, where they’ll be tasked with guarding the Little Sisters as they harvest that all-important mutagen, ADAM.

So is more single-player content what you’ve been waiting for, or will it add little to what was already a well-spun, tightly woven tale?

Still pending a release date, Minerva’s Den will be available to download for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.
