Electronic Arts studio Visceral have just confirmed that the much-anticipated Dead Space 2 will be released worldwide in late January. That’s January 25th for North America and January 28th in Europe, to be more precise. It looks like January 2011 will be just as crazy for new releases as this year.

The original Dead Space was one of the smartest and most frightening survival horror games of this generation, and Dead Space 2, according to EA’s still-hot press release, “pushes the limits of action, horror and terror”.

The story sees Issac Clarke waking up in a sprawling, dark and mysterious location, presumably after falling asleep on the night bus home. Expect: more intense sound design, a few chilling set-pieces and – fingers crossed! – zero gravity jumping. Dead Space 2 will be out on both Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
