D+PAD joins GamerZines
It hasn’t escaped the notice of readers that D+PAD underwent a small change at the end of last week, and we thought it might be worth explaining what happened and what it means for D+PAD.
Last year, David, who set up D+PAD Magazine, was recruited by GamerZines where he now writes for the site and the free monthly magazines that they produce. At the same time, Cranberry (publisher of GamerZines) acquired D+PAD. Last week, we finally made the transition to their servers, and we were down while that happened. As a result, there are a number of changes and improvements:
- We now have the GamerZines magazines list on the front page, rather than the very old issue of D+PAD Magazine. The good news here is that GamerZines’ magazines are still free, and they are also regular, so there’s a new issue of each every month, giving you far more than D+PAD magazine used to manage. Does this mean that D+PAD as a magazine is no more? Not necessarily, Cranberry are looking at a number of ways of re-launching it.
- We’re now hosted on a set of servers, which should mean a faster D+PAD site.
- The newsletter will also be resurrected so that you get regular gaming news if you’ve signed up, and it now uses a more friendly Subscribe/Unsubscribe function to make it easier to use.
- The D+PAD TV section, which hasn’t been updated for six months, will soon be getting daily updates to make that useful again.
- Editorial and editorial policy remain untouched. D+PAD is run as a separate and independent entity from GamerZines.com.
