Electronic Art’s have officially announced that a sequel to the much loved (and damned scary) Dead Space is in development for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.

Developed by series originators, Visceral Games, the imaginatively titled ‘Dead Space 2′ will see Hero Isaac Clarke return for ‘another heart-pounding adventure’ and apparently ‘taking the fight to the Necromorphs’. New weapons are promised along with the declaration that ‘this time [Isaac] calls the shots’ and that we should expect “plot twists that will surprise you and a huge cast of twisted, disgusting monsters that are sure to scare the daylights out of you.”

The original Dead Space was undoubtedly one of the highlights of 2008, so the chance to spend some more time slicing up mutant zombie things while floating upside in the vacuums of space is more than welcome!

No release date has been confirmed, but as soon as we have more details, we’ll let you know!
