Will Wright’s departure “hasn’t impacted The Sims 3″
Will Wright: designer of the best-selling PC game of all time and all-round videogame legend. But his recent departure from EA hasn’t had an impact on the development of The Sims 3, according to Associate Producer Grant Rodiek.
When asked by Eurogamer what it was like at EA now that Wright had gone, Rodiek replied:
“Will has been on Spore for a really long time and stopped working on The Sims a long time ago. I think it’s sad to see him go, but his departure hasn’t impacted The Sims 3. We have some incredible design talent and I’ve loved all of their work on The Sims 3.”
So if The Sims 3 turns out to be a bit disappointing when it launches in six weeks time, don’t go blaming Will.
Will Wright left EA earlier in the month to start up ‘Stupid Fun Club’, a company aiming to develop new intellectual properties across video gaming, television and toys.
The Sims 3 launches in Europe on June 5th. And if you were hoping to burn babies, tough luck.
