EA has announced that Brütal Legend will release in North America on October 13th and in Europe on October 16th for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

“Wooo! Having an official release date is awesome,” said Tim Schafer, President of Double Fine Productions. “And how cool is it that EA threw down the dough to have the name of an entire month changed to Rocktober?”

Brütal Legend is the next title from industry legend Tim Schafer, who’s previously worked on such classics as ‘The Secret of Monkey Island’ and ‘Grim Fandango’. The game stars Jack Black as Eddie Riggs, a roadie that finds himself thrown into a fantasy world of heavy metal, where every heavy metal album cover and lyric Eddie knows has come to life.

But despite having won numerous awards including Best Original Game and Best Writing, Schafer’s last game ‘Psychonauts’ struggled to perform at retail, shifting less than 100,000 copies within its first year of release.

Here’s hoping Brütal Legend doesn’t share the same fate. Buy it this October, please?
