Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has just announced that a new Legend of Zelda title will release later this year on Nintendo DS.

Titled “The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks”, the game looks similar to the 2007 smash-hit Phantom Hourglass, except with a train instead of a boat.

The trailer speaks for itself, but Nintendo has released a brief press release too.

The new The Legend of Zelda™: Spirit Tracks game that Iwata announced will utilise the intuitive touch control of Phantom Hourglass in an all new adventure that will please longtime Zelda™ fans while keeping the game accessible to all DS owners. The concept behind this Zelda game includes utilising a steam locomotive to travel around the world, switching Phantom and Link to explore the dungeons, and solving puzzles using new items.

Spirit Tracks launches later this year and will be compatible with both the Nintendo DS and DSi.
