Resident Evil 5 to include 16-player offline multiplayer?
The Xbox 360 version of Resident Evil 5 will contain 2-16 player offline multiplayer, if the latest UK packshot of the game is to be believed.
As pictured below, the rear of the steelbook limited edition version of Resident Evil 5 states that 2-16 players will be able to hook up and play together via system link. Online multiplayer, however, is still restricted to two players.
Resident Evil 5 is the first game in the series to include two player co-op support, but this is the first time anything above two players has been mentioned.
Will we really be able to hook up our 360s and take out zombies with fifteen friends? Or is Capcom leading us on a wild goose chase? We’ve contacted Capcom for comment.
[UPDATE] Videogaming247 has gotten a response from Capcom who have confirmed that the “box art isn’t lying.” No further details though.
[UPDATE 2] Capcom has now retracted their previous statement and said that it “Turns out our pack art was wrong!”. Who knows what’s going on? Certainly not Capcom.
[UPDATE 3] Capcom has just contacted us directly to confirm that the system link information on the box art is definitely an error and that the correct number of players supported via system link is in fact two. It was fun while it lasted, eh?

The question is, why on earth would people play SYSTEM LINK!?! only koreans and japs do that, lan parties, seriously what the fuck.
lollacaust – Well, I was considering it, and I live in California.
My wife is as interested in the game as I am, and playing split screen is quite a challenge on the eyes on our 36″ tv. So it’s either go out and buy a 50+ inch TV, or one of us plays on the TV, the other on my 24″ monitor.
Same here lollacaust, my missus loved the demo, there’s very few games that we can play together like that, we cant wait for the release. we played the demo on a 42″ and didnt find the split screen too bad at all.
i meant david, not lollacaust lol
