Bundled in with our review code of Evolution Studios’ ‘brutal off-road racer’ was a little note informing us that we “may encounter some graphical weirdness in the game”. As ambiguous (and odd) as that may sound, it goes some way to explain Pacific Rift’s schizophrenic visuals, which tend to shift from being astoundingly good one minute to inexplicably poor the next, with glorious vistas and lighting stained by muddy low-res textures (no pun intended) and the occasional poor vehicle model.
