The time has come to neglect your wives and girlfriends once again, SEGA has announced that Football Manager 2009 will be released on PC, Mac and PSP on November 14th.

New to the PC & Mac versions is the Football Manager match engine, a brand new engine that introduces a full 3D view of the play, complete with motion captured animations for each player. And as you can see from the screens below, it all looks rather swish.

Miles Jacobson, Studio Director of Sports Interactive said, “With the 3D view of the match engine, and dozens of animations for each player, this year is definitely one of revolution for the Football Manager series. We always said that we wanted to make the in-game match engine fully 3D but that we wouldn’t do so until we were confident that it was technically possible, and after nearly 3 years work and with huge thanks to Sports R&D Division, it’s now here.” About time too we say.

FM09 also features pre-match and in-match help from an Assistant Manager, giving feedback on how your team is performing and offering up some advice. There have also been improvements made to the media system with the addition of pre and post-match press conferences, while the transfer system has been completely rewritten adding in transfer rumours to make it more “realistic”,

If you fancy it you can now also play as a female manager to “be the first woman to lead your favourite team to domestic and European glory.” LOL.

The PSP version meanwhile introduces a 2D match engine, a first for the handheld franchise.

We’ve got the first screens below, and you can check out all the first footage at Sports Interactive’s YouTube page.
