Sony has announced the North American and Japanese release dates for upcoming PS3 shooter Resistance 2.

The FPS will launch across US stores on Tuesday 4th November, with a Japanese release following just over a week later on Friday 13th. The date puts it head to head with that ‘other’ big November game, Gears Of War 2, which launches worldwide on Xbox 360 on November 7th.

SCEE also revealed that a multiplayer demo will be available to download at some point next month. Speaking on the European PlayStation boards a Sony rep stated, “The event will allow PS3 owners the opportunity to be the first to explore new levels, modes and weapons – as well as provide Insomniac Games, the developer of Resistance 2, and SCEE with feedback on the game.”

A UK release date hasn’t yet been announced, but our money’s on it hitting European territories the same day as Gears.
