The PSP Camera may have been available in the UK since mid-2007, but it may never be released in the US because of its poor quality, a Sony representative has told Siliconera.

The representative spoke of how the camera was already obsolete before it had even launched because of many camera phones on the market already supporting higher image resolutions than Sony’s device was capable of. While a relatively cheap add-on, the PSP camera (known as Go!Cam in the UK) only supports a maximum image resolution of 1280×960, with videos clocking in at 480×272.

SCEA announced at CES 2008 that the PSP Camera and PSP GPS system would be available in North America at some point this year, but with no news since could the PSP Camera be dead and buried?
