Perhaps we were expecting a little too much when we put Perfect Dark 2 on our “hope to see” list. After all, Rare already have a lot on their plate with both VP: Trouble In Paradise and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts hitting shelves over the next few months. But with rumours that Joanna Dark will be returning to Xbox 360 still doing the rounds, we had our fingers crossed that we’d see something concrete.

With catastrophic sales of PGR 4 and Bizarre Creations since bought out by Activision, could Microsoft’s flagship racing series finally be dead and buried? We sincerely hope not, but with nothing on show, it’s not looking good.

After the Kane & Lynch debacle we were eager to see if IO could deliver a show-stopping return to form with the first ‘proper’ next-gen Hitman. But they didn’t. With the series continuing to prove popular at retail as well as a recent blockbuster and accompanying novel behind it, another title simply has to be in the works at the Danish development house. Give us an open-world environment to carry out our assignments and we’ll be happy IO. We promise.
